Description
Guardian
Of Gaia is my first game for Windows. It's a fairly manic top-down
all-way-scrolling shoot-em-up, inspired by Asteroids, Star Control
and Sinistar. Defeat all the enemies that try to conquer the planet
Gaia. Perhaps not the most original game ever made, but the controls
have a nice feel. Face fearsome capital ships with multiple weapon
systems, buy upgrades from visiting arms dealers.
Changes
In This Version (v1.1):
Fixed bug
relating to spawning of enemies that could freeze the program
on rare occasions
Fixed bug that allowed user to quit when already Game Over
Added support for different display resolutions from 320x240 up
to 1280x1024, and windowed mode too.
Recommended
Spec:
Intel PIII
/ AMD Athlon at 800 MHz or higher. 640x480 16-bit display mode
required. Soundcard required.
Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP/NT4 (N.B. not all configurations
have yet been tested.)
The above
spec is for reference only. The game will run on lower specification
computers but may suffer poor performance. During beta testing
the game has been reported as running acceptably on an Intel PIII
650MHz. Tests on an ancient Intel Celeron 300 MHz suffered painful
slowdown after the first few levels of the game.
Shareware:
This game
is free. You may distribute it in its original form via the usual
channels - you may give it to your friends, you may link to my
website, you may spread it via P2P networks. The one thing about
traditional shareware that bugs me is the crippled versions you
usually get, and nobody really wants to pay $10 or more for a
game they've already played. If you like this game, please tell
somebody about it, give them a copy or point them to this webpage.
If you really
enjoy this game, please consider a $1 donation via Paypal and/or
with your credit card - it's quick and secure. A little token
thankyou like that will help me pay for my webpage bandwidth and
encourage me to write more and better games.
